Austin, the state capitol of Texas, is home to many delectable eateries and treats. We stayed in Austin for a week to see if we could envision ourselves living there in the near future (more on that later), so we had plenty of days to try some of the most popular restaurants in Austin. Here is the list of places we recommend (in no particular order).
2. Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill
3. Easy Tiger
Go for happy hour! Happy hour is from 4:30pm – 6:30pm Monday to Friday. They offer $3 housemade sausages (normally $9) and a small pretzel with beer cheese for $3 (normally $5). Order the garlic sausage!
4. Pho Please
Pho Please is a Vietnamese eatery that services a variety of main Vietnamese dishes, such as vermicelli dishes, pho, and banh mi sandwiches. They prepare their food with fresh ingredients and ensures quality dishes by not taking any shortcuts.
5. Halal Bros
Halal Bros serves quality, hearty servings of Halal Food at an affordable price. You can get delicious halal meats, healthy servings of spiced rice, and a side salad for only $8! For all you vegetarians, Halal Bros grinds their own chickpeas and cut fresh vegetables to make falafels. If you’ve ever had Halal Guys in NYC, or any of their now expanded locations throughout the U.S., Halal Bros is so much better in terms of taste and price. There are a few locations located in Austin but we went to the one close to the UT campus. Parking is extremely limited here (3 spots), so try to find parking in the neighboring areas.
7. Ramen Tatsu-Ya
Come only during happy hour to save 50% off the entire menu! Yes, you read that right. This includes the entire food menu, not just select dishes. I know, continue drooling. Happy hour is every day from 5pm to 6pm.
9. Home Slice
Make reservations! Uchi is an incredibly popular restaurant, and if you do not have reservations you can expect to wait hours in line for a seat.
